Suburban hot water heater questions

Suburban brand.

2 questions if anybody knows.

1. On the pressure relief valve...is the thread... hose bib size?

2. On most RV's is there a check valve on the water (incoming or outgoing)?

  • Suburban uses a 3/4" NPT T&P Relief Vlave

Some water heaters have check valve in cold inlet AND hot outlet
    Some have cold inlet
    Some have hot outlet
    Some NONE

80%......yours has one in HOT outlet

I've never actually compared them, but I feel pretty certain the pressure relief valve is threaded the same. Check the valves though, I do think they come in different temperature settings, at least, they use to.

If you have a single valve water heater by-pass on your water heater, then yes, you do have a check valve on the hot out side.

If you have a 2 valve water heater by-pass, you might have a check valve on the hot out side.

If you have a 3 valve water heater by-pass, you probably do not have any check valves.

Thanks...I don't know how many by-pass valves I'll have to check.
