suburban water heater 110v switch replacement

Has anyone done this and can you do it without taking the water heater out? I have a switch that will not move to the on position. I can push it but it will not stay on. It just keeps snapping back to the off position. It looks like I should just be able to pry the old one out and push a new one in. Many a thought like that one have resulted in a larger repair though:-).

  • Just a 110V toggle snap in switch.

Hardest job is usually getting the old one out.
  • What model? I have the SW6DE and had to replace the switch. It was rather easy to do. Pry it out with a flat head screwdriver. Remove the wires from the old and connect them to the new switch. Slip the switch back in.

The water heater doesn't have to be removed but you'll probably need to disconnect any gas lines or the burner tube if they're in the way.
