- DaHoseExplorerWhen I bought my RV, the WH was dead. Based on what you say, the first thing to do is put a meter on the solenoids while someone operates the switch and confirm they are getting 12 volts.
If there is no voltage getting there, get a battery and put 12V to them. If gas flows, then it is likely the controller.
If there is voltage getting there, try the following. You will see 12V for a few seconds, then it will have nothing. Keep the leads on there and wait about a minute. If it clicks the igniter and you get 12V again, then the board is working normally and it's probably a bad solenoid assembly. New solenoid valve assemblies are about $80.
Jose - RJsfishinExplorerDo like the repair places do, change out the control board first, then go from there.
- Joe417ExplorerGeniann,
There's a waterheater blog that has a lot of info at the following address:

I learned a bit from it. - wgriswoldExplorerThe burner orifices can become clogged with soot and rust. The first thing is to clean it in place with a cloth or toothbrush. If that does not work, take it out and clean it more thoroughly, reinstall and try again.
- geniannExplorerThanks...
Bear II, 1492, Harvard & Old-Biscuit for your input...
more info...gas, no spark but does "click" (attempting to spark),
lots of rust, unable to open screws, difficult to access, may have to resort to electrician for more help BUT it seems simple enough to repair on my own. Hate to give up on this chore. - bshpilotExplorerdoes it work on electric OR gas ? neither ?
try reading this troubleshooting guide - http://trekin.digital-digs.net/Share%20PDF/Water%20Heater%20Troubleshooting%20-%20Suburban%20V1.1.pdf - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIIf you haven't noticed..........not much real help can be had without more details such as:
What model of Suburban Water Heater....pilot/electronic.......electric & gas heat etc.
And what does it do.....doesn't do.
No pilot, no spark, no main flame, no electric heating.
They are a fairly simple piece of equipment......but can have simple to more involved fixes.
But at this point with info provided......my guess would be it isn't working - HarvardExploreropen solenoid coil
