Can't win for losing. You all stopped me from making what I shall call "The 18/10 mistake" Thank you.
I did install aluminum insect screening. The first tropical storm expressed it's outrage at the color motif.
Crock Pot Ham n Eggs leaves a little bit to be desired. I nuke vegetables, chorizo and bacon plus potatoes.
When I go back permanently, I am going to find one really mean Jack Russell or maybe a duo to take with me. We have tomato rats down here the size of a house cat. They aren't nasty like a Norwegian rat the kind in Europe of US cities but they are disease carrying rodents. They'll gnaw through canvas or plastic in a New York Minute.
The old way - wood fire, insect repelling smoke, seems to be the smartest way to go. 100% time spent tending the fire and food.
One day I had a "Tabano" a red fly skid to a stop on my knee that was glistening slick with 100% concentration Repel DEET. Three seconds later it took a big chomp.
I need to devise a convection exhaust over the stove that doesn't suck out all the chilled air. Life in the tropics.
