Summers And Boiling Hot Galley Cooking

Yeah it's hot and I need to light a fire which burning propane adds both heat and humidity. 14 days of straight salads, vegetable and fruit are tiresome and shortwave cookery leaves a lot to be desired.

INDUCTION COOKING
I've thought about it but tabletop units aren't cheap.

But today I saw this ad and I am going to bite...

Beware. The ad says 1,500 watts.

Ironically, your comment made me realise maybe I should buy one. Lost the knob on my old hotplate, Sticking a screwdriver deep in it and trying to find that little screw is getting tiresome. (That's what she said.)

Edit: Google say I gotta test all my pans with a magnet.

Are your POTS and pans cast iron?
ALU ceramic and stainless don't work
    Well cheap stainless might
Good stainless isn't very magnetic, induction doesn't work so well
  • crock pot on table outside of front door. cook outside early morning and nuke it at night in microwave

How about one of those freestanding screen rooms? Like a canopy, but with screen sides.

I know getting anything is hard down there. But you could put it on your list.

Speaking of, it seems to me that you should have a wish list on amazon or somewhere, with a link in your sig, and when you help people out here (as you always do) we would have an easy way to express our appreciation. Do you have a US mailing address?

    PS: 'Precision cooking', lol,
  • Well I guess that would be OK if there were no Jurassic-Park-Grade Insects around from 5 to 8 PM. Down here they grab you and flip you over to get at the juiciest parts.
  • In the summer we do almost all of our cooking outdoors. We have a Weber Q1200 propane grill and a Coleman 2 burner stove both attached to a single 20lb propane tank. The only time we use the indoor stove stop is for making popcorn if we are too lazy to go outside. Once the outside temp is above 80F we stop using the oven.
