SUPCO SPP6 Installation Clarification

I've been following this topic for a few months now and decided I needed to install a hard start capacitor on both RVs. I started with the Keystone Laredo 301TG. When I opened the AC unit I saw what I thought was familiar to other photos in this discussion. (see photo 1) The diagrams on the unit show the following: and Like many others I've ended up confused over how to install the hard start capacitor. Based on the diagram it appears I would disconnect the yellow wire from the run capacitor, plug it into the SPP6 and then plug the SPP6 into the terminal where the yellow wire was removed from the run capacitor. Basically putting it in-line, as opposed to parallel. Since this RV is new I don't want to take a chance and mess it up. I haven't even opened the Four Winds AC unit. It seems like a simple install but there's enough confusion that I don't want to take the risk with some insight from the experienced guys in this forum. Hopefully I will be able to help in other areas since I've been a TT owner for 20+ years and have some great tips for areas outside "electrical." Thanks!

  • Thanks for the replies. So I will just plug one wire into a terminal spade on each side of the run capacitor (red and yellow) and give it a go. I'm assuming it doesn't matter which spade on the terminal. The yellow wire side of run capacitor has three open spades and the red side has two. It almost seems too easy for an RV. :-)
  • Like the other poster said enough open terminals plug and play. But be understand the may or may not be some charge left in that run cap. Just play it safe and assume there is.
  • Don't remove any wires- the start cap is paralleled with the run cap. Basically just 2 wires piggybacked on the run cap.
