You guys have me convinced that an EMS protector is necessary.
For the most part, when camping, I avoid the RV parks like the plague. That means I'm existing on solar and inversion (making my own power), connected at home, connected at a friend's property, or at a primitive campground.
The risk comes into play when parking in an RV campground where other users are hammering an older, ill-designed campground utility system, it seems. The bad news is that it takes just one event to make life miserable.
I may buy an isolation transformer and cover even more possibilities.
