Agreed it is junk.
I did use a digital voltmeter. I don't have the exact numbers but what I am saying is that the multimeter was corroborating what the "junk display" was roughly saying. For example, I could read 12.9 volts or so when it said they were full and 12.4 when 2/3, etc.
