Yes its a watt meter you plug into a wall outlet. Then plug your device into the meter. Tells your amps, voltage, watts....can tell you how much it costs in electricity if you tell it data.
I normally turn off everything besides the fridge when plugging into shore or starting the genny. Only exception is dry camping i leave lights and radio playing and crank the gen over. Wait a few minutes before using the microwave or A/C. Depends on the ambient temp and how long ago it was started. If 40F outside i let it warm up a little longer than when camping in 120F.
Do you turn fridge to gas? I would.
