Ya if you want to leave for your trip at short notice by all means use propane. Most of the time I just turn on the fridge and put it to 120v mode overnight, then load the food before I leave and then switch to 12v for driving
12 volt mode is NEVER to be used to cool down a 3 way refer. It is only used while in transit to keep the existing temp for a few hours. Doug
