And I think you are absolutely 100% wrong.
First, if you haven't observed the voltages while the current unit is charging a mostly depleted battery, you can't say that it doesn't sense properly.
Second, how are YOU going to determine the SOC while the charger is connected ?? Hint: There isn't a good way, and even if there was, you would have to monitor it every 15 minutes or so......and I for one have better things to do.
Edit: The behavior you report in a subsequent post could be a sign of a weak battery. Hard to say without knowing what the load is during the discharge time and/or what the voltage is right before the charger is reconnected.
