Hi dt,
As requested in layman's terms.
The AGM batteries appear to play well with the alternator and they appear to accept a charge faster than ordinary deep cycle lead acid jars.
I have 556 amp-hours in twin banks wired in a balanced manner.
The later testing with the generator charging shows that there was not sufficient driving time to fully recharge the banks.
It suggests that I should replace the starter battery which is a six year old Walmart Marine jar, with one that is a similar chemistry to the 'house' agm's.
