Would be extremely useful to utilize an amp hour meter so a characteristic can be derived from the readings. "Something going in while something coming-out" voltage readings are to put it bluntly, rather useless.
If an individual wishes to really monitor and control their AGM an honest Amp Hour Meter is mandatory. Like a hydrometer with a flooded battery there can be no substitutions.
The "penalty" is capacity, lifespan, and cost of recharging. 'Tis a free country to do as one wishes, but the battery does not care about your personal likes and dislikes. They always win arguments.
