Or did you actually pay less than you otherwise would as Tesla did not have to design and manufacture two different batteries and design and fabricate two different mounting systems, and size two different charging systems and it goes on and on.
Maybe, just maybe, the guys that bought the big batteries subsidized YOUR small battery purchase.
