Testing trailer brake controller....

At the rate cannesdo is going removing the shackles and leaf springs on an un supported trailer and crawling under there to take pictures, in another thread, it's a disaster, giving her any encouragement, or suggestions. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen, giving directions to someone in such a manner could leave you liable, if they injure themselves.

Back to the issue at hand. Glad to have cleared out the riff-raff....Note for the record: One does not pay a smaller price by simply sitting quietly and allowing entitled men to abuse you. That's the highest price of all. Their shaming is punishment for having the self-respect to ask for what you need and hold others accountable for their bad behavior. Plain and simple. It's unacceptable in any community or forum to behave this way and we all know most of that would have never been said in front of me. Cowardly and sad...straight up.

k, so...the brakes....Two neighbors came over and, as I suspected, knew how to quickly test the system. All one had to do to test to be sure the controller was working was put a lighted probe on the prong on the 7-pin in the lower right position. It lit up. Then when we did the magnet test it worked, as did stopping the rotation of the tire on that side that as still on. My brakes are good. I don't know why they've felt so weak. I bought a new controller and will be installing that this week. I wonder if the fact that they were so dirty and hadn't been adjusted for a very long time had something to do with it. Hope so. Learned a lot this week.

Got 2 of the 4 wheels sorted, bearings greased, and tires back on and am now addressing the shock situation. That will be a new thread. I've got a leaf spring situation. :/

I guess your observation is partly true. re the first sentence but there are gals that like to take apart the clock just like we did when younger.

After near 40 years with my partner, the silent treatment can be a Godsend, lol.
I have noticed that raising my voice or stating corrections to her (and especially these two combined) can lead to a silent interval. This also eliminates any hugging or approval of finishing any technical task.

I solve problems and provide technical assistance to customers, friends, and family on a continual, daily basis and have done so for many years. I'm a "fixer" and know my role but being a "fixer" of emotions, mine or someone else's, is a skill I'm still trying to master. That's probably why I have the RV bug, nothing better than being in the great outdoors, line in the water or listening to firewood crackle. It recharges my "batteries" and clears out all the internal "rubble" in my head.

Hope the OP is on her way with brakes working and can kick back to enjoy the same camping things we all like!

This is the Tech section of the Forum. My experience tells me that highly technical and knowledgable folks are more interested in fixing the problem than delivering care or assuaging feelings. The good news is that if you can post difficulties and problems with an objective view, sort through the less than helpful replies, then, a correct solution to your difficulty can be had for a low price.

Sorry, Westend...I don't subscribe to the idea that a person can't be both technical and considerate/caring/respectful. I give humanity more credit than that. I actual hold them to that standard on every front in my life as I believe that's the only way we're going to evolve a race. Toxic people are going to have at you regardless, yes....most of them anyway. But it's not a lose/lose. Sometimes when I show up here I'm in a bad shape, and I need input. And that's what healthy people do...let you know where they're at. Anyone who takes issue with that and takes a shot at you for whatever reason -- these folks do you a favor by letting you know who they are. There are plenty of kind and compassionate people willing to help you out and the more weeding I do the better my experience is going to be. You get out of life what you expect. I have no interest in surrounding myself with lazy, self-indulgent people who want to take a piece out of someone else so they can feel better about themselves...or worse -- exploit their struggle for the sake of mere entertainment.
