Just because of how quickly the 24v panels keep dropping. If they stop dropping in price it will not be true. If they keep dropping much faster than medium & high power MPPT controller prices the curves will cross.
The 70 cent per watt panels prompt this thought. Even at those prices the difference drops quite a bit, with the solar costing $434 instead of over $600. MPPT still wins today at $2.16 per watt though.
