True though thin film is cheaper to ship due to more normal dimensions of a roll. But they do not have the price point. You do see free shipping from time to time.
As the break even point got closer, I'd be more and more tempted to buy as much panel as I could afford at that point with a <$50 controller, then buy the MPPT unit a bit later. Only a little more total cost, and a nice backup controller or ability to run two systems is thrown in with that approach.
