I'm part of the one big/one small inverter crowd. I didn't buy them with the efficiency concept in mind, but since I have them both I have used them in that manner. Basically, we pretty much just use the 300 watt one because the 1500 watt one will cut out for high input voltage when our solar still feels like there's work to be done.
This is an issue with solar later in the day when you want to make supper using the microwave for part of it. I set my controller to 14.8 so voltage won't hit the 15v inverter shut off. (That's ok if it is warm out so temp comp doesn't crank that 14.8 up to 15+ in the cold.)
Yeah, I've learned to work around it actually. But we still usually just use the small inverter, due to what is apparently a misguided idea about it being more efficient!
