If your 3000 idles at .2 it is a no brainer.
When is it ever idle though?
Somehow (GFCIs?) the power centre is a load even with no appliances switched on. If my "whole house" inverter is turned on, it goes through the power centre, so it now pulls 0.7 vs 0.2 so half an amp more before any actual 120v appliance is turned on.
(Microwave was not on for that , but could be on and not running as another thing, like leaving the TV plugged in but not on)
If the inverter is hard-wired with transfer switches and sub-panels etc that might be even more live things (are transfer switches "live"?) besides GFCIs before you even get started?
The inverter might see less "idle" draw by having a separate circuit like some folks do where it is not "whole house" through a power centre?
I am wondering if those people who have reported high "idle" draws from their big inverters, but who actually have inverter/chargers are seeing that type of thing and getting a false impression of what the inverter-only idle draw is.
Doesn't matter anyway when you use the inverter's remote on/off switch to only have it on for when doing something 120v.
