My Vizio tv has an external power supply (brick), converting 120V ac to 12V dc. The tv itself has a 12V dc power input. The Kill A Watt meter reads 24W. When I use an inverter, 12V current is 2.5A. If I bypass the inverter/brick and plug directly into 12V house battery, current drops to 1.5A.
That's a 66% power improvement when connecting directly to battery.
I don't use a dvd player. I have a wd tv live media player. It also connects directly to battery. The media player has a usb port where I connect a 3 TB Passport hard drive. It contains over 300 movies. I believe it consumes less than 1A.
I have no use for an inverter. All electronics operate from 12V. The MW gets power from the gen. I'm very energy efficient. Only need 130W solar.
