I'm gonna have to say this again cause nobody is listing. Plugging a 30 amp cord into a 50 amp outlet does nothing to the 30 amp cord. It will not cause over heating of the 30 amp cord. The 30 amp cord is protected by the 30 amp breaker. only 30 amps can go through the cord because the 30 amp main in the RV will trip. The op's problem was form loose connections caused by arching when plugging in under load. Not necessarily by him but by 100's of others before him. The female receptacle was loose and caused the over heating of the plug. When anyone plugs in under load it just like welding. The burnt plug can look like that with less than a 30 amp load.
