Several posters made good points, notably Pianatuna and Smkettner
1. LFP charges to float in an almost linear manner. We were 3000 W-hr low a while back and we hooked up to line power (we were parked in shade at an RV park in 100 F weather) and charged the battery bank via 1.5 kW battery charger (threw away the 50 and 30 amp cables). It took two hours.
2. The weight difference is major as was discussed in an above post. 9.6 kW-hr with approximately 7.8 kW-hr usable at 80% DOD weighs only 254 pounds. I do not know where we would place enough lead acid batteries to equal this. The weight of lead acid would put our weight over suggested pin weight and frame constraints.
There was a question about low C rate discharge compared with the high rates of EV vehicles and that utilized for small starter batteries. There have been a lot of discussions on low C rate usage of LFP batteries on a lot of technical fora. The general consensus (almost 100%) is that low C rate discharge is good for LFP battery banks.
