Have probably noted earlier that we utilize 1.5 kW of battery charger to charge the LFP battery bank the few times we have had to do this. The primary purpose of utilizing a battery charger instead of the 50 amp cabling that came with the 5th wheel is that we spent four winters in Mexico/Belize and the power in Mexico can be really dirty (the only place we stayed in Belize was the delightful Glenwood RV Park near San Ignacio which had good 30 amp hookups) and we burned out a microwave in both Baja and near Tulum. One German couple burned out all of their electronics in a 36' 5th wheel (Mexican technicians fixed everything once the parts were shipped in). They like the site near Tulum and have just left it there the last three years when they fly home for summer.
Son did design and fabricate the electrical system so that we could still use the 50 amp coupling for AC only if we ever really needed extensive a/c. We have never used this except to trial it. This is isolated from the battery bank system. The original converter was kept only to operate the landing gear (12 V) from the battery bank so that the inverter has to be on to operate the landing gear (have forgotten this fact a few times with resultant befuddlement and cursing - only to have Elaine remind me of turning on the inverter - it helps to have a wife that is far more intelligent than I).
The system does have a Mean Well converter to drop the 48 V nominal battery bank for internal 12 V use (other then the landing gear)
