grizzzman - You should check into what the Aussie T1Terry posts (everywhere, Cruise/Sailing, Solar Panel, Northern Arizona, the Aussie RV fora, but then I should talk). He has been doing hands on testing and working with the 3.4 V per cell regulation for several years and his work is getting accepted in the boating community. He can be found on the Aussie "caravan" and "Grey Nomads" fora. BMS may not be necessary for solar charging/discharging rates. Ours was fabricated by an outfit that primarily does EV work, and BMS is necessary there.
I have corresponded a couple of times with T1Terry and he is friendly and helpful though he believes his work is proprietary. He has about 100 folks in OZ who have been doing field testing on his ideas for several years. The OZ RV'ers are way ahead of the US on using small LFP battery banks. I am just an anecdotard. LFP is not a miracle, just a most effective energy storage system.
