Should have put this in the post above. As noted, we are not electricians (I am a retired physicist and Elaine is a retired teacher) nor accomplished handymen but we can relate real life experiences with solar and LFP.
Son trialed our system and ran both the Dometic air conditioner and the microwave simultaneously while watching the monitors. This pulled almost 4 kW from the battery bank through the 4.0 kW Magnum PSW inverter. So the system will operate well at almost C/2. He noted that the BMS monitor demonstrated continual balancing. The panels were harvesting around 1 kW at the time so the battery deficit was around 3 kW. He did this for about half an hour in mid-morning and we were at absorb by mid-afternoon.
Son is totally off grid with around 6 kW, daughter is on grid with about 5.6 kW and gets refund every month of year, and brother-in-law has around 3 kW.
The electric power companies in New Mexico have encouraged solar and give incentives for lowering power consumption. A notable example is subsidizing the use of LEDs in household and businesses.
