Does anyone out there have any suggestions about a product that will do the job or a method I can try that will not require me to actually entre the tank?
Can't say I've ever heard anyone describe tank monitors as "corrupted" when all it means it they're covered in sludge created by the tank contents. Nor do I know what "entre the tank" means either. :?
I like many don't much care how accurate (or inaccurate) any of the tank monitors may be as it's pretty easy to estimate based on use. You'll know the grey tank is full when water won't drain out of the shower pan. Figure maximum black water waste generation at a gal per person per day and by comparing that to your BW tank capacity you can estimate pretty accurately how long you can camp without having to off load the contents of the BW tank.
Everyone has their own tank servicing preferences and like most I've tried quite a few myself over the years. Since I enjoy the luxury of servicing my tanks at home using my FloJet waste macerator I can be as thorough as I want so after the initial evacuation I Geo the black water tank and use a tank wand down the toilet throat to "clean" the black water tank. To prepare for next use I add a few gallons of fresh water to each tank, some Walex Elemonate to the grey and Walex PortaPak to the black.
A couple times each season, after tank cleaning, I'll fill the black tank completely with water, add a dose of Walex Commando, let it sit for 24 hrs, then dump that as well.
Tank monitors seem to work reasonably well and I never experience unpleasant tank odours. :B
