Thermostat ticking

When I turn on furnace on my coleman mach thermostat it starts ticking as long as the burner is going the moment the burner goes off the ticking stops. What do y'all think is the problem? It drives us crazy. Please help.

  • Thanks for the help. I will try a new ground before I swap out thermostat.
  • You probably have a floating ground at the wall tstat. Run a GOOD 14 gauge ground wire from a chassis bolt to the BLUE wire on the tstat. Just run it thru the entry door for this test. Odds are you have a weak or poor ground connection to the wall tstat and the Gas burner valve and/or the Flame sense electrode is completing the poor ground. Doug
  • If it has a trademark emblem of a Crescent Moon and says "Made In Afghanistan" I'd replace it.

More than hoping to make you smile, like Old-Biscuit, I would recommend replacing it.
