On my Aquamagic there is a return spring for the foot lever and mechanical arms. Mine was rusty so I disassembled it, cleaned, and lubricated all the parts.
At one time, someone had replaced the spring with a thicker spring that made flushing and the return too extreme. I replaced the spring. It works like new, now.
