They Don't Build Them Like They Used To

The Shurflo rep at last years Winnebago Grand National Rally had a bench set-up at his booth where he would adjust your pump.

Rather than possibly going through water pump replacement again in 2 years, I'm going to try the Aquajet RV.

It's a 5-chamber pump that provides greater flow & pressure than my old ShurFlo. It's made in the USA and I like the fact that Aquajets are the only water pumps that the RVWaterFilterStore carries.

The only problem I have had with the new one is a mis-adjusted bypass valve- a turn with an allen wrench was all that it needed. Other than that, I've had zero problems.

That is correct.

No doubt about it, the best way to keep a pump running smoothly is to carry a spare pump. Still on my original diaphram pump of 6 seasons, well over 1200 nights & who knows how many thousands of gallons pumped.

Some might remember the diaphragm water pumps with electric motor and crank exposed?
I had one of those on 1965 Airstream trailer that I was rebuilding.
I tried to keep the trailer as original as I could, so went to West Marine and to my surprise the design is still in production and consider upscale. New pump was close to $200, but I was able to get rebuild kit and fix the 45 years old one.
10 years old pump in camper needed check valve rebuild.



EDIT. went on website for better picture and got sticker shock.
That sucker cost $630 today.

that 4008 replacement pump is about as cheap as they get.
Amongst other problems, the worst part is when in idle mode.....shower dribbling, pump cycling on and off, it will overheat and shut down for 2 minutes. But it always come back on,.....if that's worth anything.

Maybe the plant workers in China, where they are built, are starting to produce shoddy pumps because of their low wages. :@
