Negative. Even R-12 is just a refrigerant. R-12,R410a, R-134a, R-22, R-404a. Be it a CFC, HCFC, HFC or whatever the chemical compound it is a refrigerant. "Freon" is a trade name from the Chemours Company (Dupont)
