Thinking of going to 6v batteries

I'm thinking of going to 6v batteries when my current ones die, but need some info. How tall are the 6v batteries from lowest point to highest point? I need to know if they will fit in my battery compartment.

Thanks

I took a cutting torch to my compartment to fit 6 V batteries. I lowered the compartment base 2". It was worth it. While I was in there, I moved a steel support for a step and that gave me room for 4x6 volts instead of two. I also found a hidden area that I opened up and added a hinge to, and suddenly had another tiny compartment under the step for free!
  • I am using this for my 2 12V batteries - purchased it because I will go to 6V batteries when the 12V die. I took the vent hose off the original battery box. Put some foam on the inside on the sides of the batteries to keep them from moving in the box. Cables to connect the two batteries were purchased at an auto parts store. I marked the top of the batteries and cables to ensure someone does not install the cables wrong. The battery box is bolted in place - 4 bolts.

Trojan batteries were in my Bounder motor home. Good batteries.

They vary, but the smaller (std) ones are the same size as a group 24, except 2" taller.

That is what I needed. Now I have to check to see if I have 2 inches of clearance above my batteries.

    Thank you

I change mine, had to do a bit of a mod but they fit. I added a filler system since they are now pretty hard to get to.
