More dope on teflon tape:
White is single density, yellow is double density and pink is triple density. Pink is also for girl plumbers. Density is the only difference with these colors.
There are other colors as well. Green is oil-free for oxygen and medical use. Grey contains nickel and is for stainless steel and prevents seizing, galling and corrosion. Copper color contains copper granules and is used as a lubricant but not as a sealant.
One thing to watch when using teflon tape is that it makes the threads slippy and you can end up over-tightening the joint which can cause cracks and thus leaks. You're generally not supposed to use more than 3 layers, but sometimes I've found that it's hard to get just one layer of white to work.
In some special cases, loctite 565 is supposed to be used on the threads.
Otherwise, anything else you need to know is out there somewhere on a Youtube vid.
