One thing was they say the tape is just a lubricant so you can tighten more. All I know with a water line is it leaks without the white tape, so the tape must be a sealer---unless it lets me tighten more so it doesn't leak! Arrgghh. Rather talk about something else. Anything else! :)
I wondered how long it was going to take to get to the truth.
Teflon tape and pipe dope are to be used only on Nation Pipe Threads. (tapered pipe fittings) Tape and pipe dope are used by professionals as a lubricant NOT a sealer. It allows the 2 treaded pieces to slide past each other with less friction, thus allowing the treads to form a seal. Anti-seize, grease, oil and spit will work when pipe dope and tape are not available.
