Those jump start packs do not have a whole lot of amp hours.. I have seen them in the 20-30 amp hour range, and I suspect they make them in the 50 amp hour range.
They are AGM batteries, which can take quite a bit of abuse.
They do not need to provide all the cranking capacity however. When you hook up they start to transfer charge to the vehicle's primary battery.. THEN they provide the rest.
That said, the box I used to carry had a 1,000 amp peak rating, The one Im looking to buy is a fraction of that but Im more interested in portable 12vdc than I am jump starting anything bigger than a Onan 5500.
