My question is: A previous post states that the 507 system can take up to an hour to warn of a lost signal from a sensor? The reason for the question mark is, when I remove a sensor for battery replacement which turns off the transmitter in the sensor (loss of air pressure turns the sensor off), the alarm goes off instantly. How is this different from a lost signal for other reasons? A lost signal is a lost signal, isn't it?
When you remove a sensor from a tire stem, you're simulating a rapid loss of pressure and you will/should get an alert for that.
To simulate a lost sensor signal, drive away from your camper (out of sensor range) and see how long it takes for your monitor readings to blank out.
It was confirmed by Mike Benson from TST that when a sensor signal is lost, the monitor displays the last reading it received (from memory) for up to an hour.
Your monitor "keeps looking" for your sensor's signal for that long before it gives up and your reading blanks out.
I've never seen the sensor "go to sleep" instantly on my TST systems.
I'm not saying "don't get a TPMS". Just know their abilities and limitations.
