Just purchase new trailer and got the Reese Steadi Flex System and now I at home I need to adjust the ball height and the nuts need to be torqued to 340lbs. I only have a 150 torque wench and I have made numerous calls around to see if anyone rents this large of a torque wrench and the answer is no. I have called all the auto parts stores, home improvement stores and the local tool rental place with no luck. I really do not want to spend around $300 bucks for a tool that I will only use occasionally. Any ideas and yes I am CHEAP CHARLIE HA HA. I am 80 miles away from any dealer and 45 miles from any auto garages.

What you need is a torque multiplier. I don't know if any place rents them and they aren't cheap but they're cheaper than a torque wrench that will do 350 foot pounds.

Put them on tight, then the next time you go by a truck tire shop, pull in and set them up.

Take it to a tire shop for semi's they will torque it for u

Get a cheater bar and stand on it at the right weight/length to create 340.May need 3/4" or 1" drive.

If I'm remembering correctly one can pull 1/2 his weight based on the friction of you standing on the ground. So if you weigh 200 lbs you can pull 100 lbs. If you use a 3 1/2 ft. cheater bar you will come close to the 340 you are looking for by pulling as hard as you can. If you brace your foot against something all bets are off.

I work at a commercial tire center. We have torque wrenches for installing tires on heavy duty trucks and coaches. They should be able to assist.

If you weigh 175 pounds just stand 1.7' out on the bar.

Weldon, this is from the manual on a Reese Steadi Flex WD 14. Torque the 3?4” ball mount bolts to 300 ft.-lbs..
My mistake, when I said 340 that is for the ball being attached to the head. But it is 300 to move the head up or down.
I have tried all the local tool rental places with no luck. I am looking at the Klutch Torque
Multiplier at Northern Tool. for $79,00. Thanks for all your great input. Ed

Amazon has a 3/4" 100-600 # for $173.00. Also has an Exxtreme Power torque multiplier with sockets for $76.00 up to 3540 FT./#. with good reviews

If you're working on something that really needs to be that tight, you need to just put a cheater bar on it and go nuts.

So I guess the OP merely needs to start eating. When he gets to 780 lbs body weight, he's all set, no torque wrench needed.

Or 680 lbs, if he only needs to increase his body weight to twice the torque required?

My local RV shop has them too.
