For the water and holding tanks, there are electrodes in the tanks to detect the water level. In the gray and especially the black tank, these sometimes get some scum or crud on them that fools them into giving false readings. You can search here for various threads on ways of cleaning the tanks to get the indicators working properly, at least temporarily. One popular recipe is the "GEO method."
