TracVision R5 "in-motion" issue.

Just purchased coach with the TracVision R5 in-motion dish. No sat reciever in the coach but I did find a Dish Remote and some Dish paperwork so I assume the dish is setup to find Dish sats.

I have DirecTv account. My Prior coach I was using a Std. Def. box connected to a manual crank-up dish. I know that the DirecTv box is 100% functional. I also verified that it is indeed a compatable box.

When I power up the KVH R5 it goes thru the power up sequence w/o issue. I located the proper straight thru modem cable with DB-9 male on one end, male on the other.

I downloaded the KVH Flash Update utility & I'm able to see data scrolling across the screen as the K5 is powered up. I power down & then power up the R5 and I see it go thru some tests w/o issue.

I want to do the flash update BUT it appears the K5 is not "listening" to the HALT command. When I type Halt [enter] & even HALT [enter] the K5 does NOT halt.

I tried to use Hyperterminal set to 9600-N-8-1 w NO flow control. I can again see the data scrolling across the screen. I had to tuen on the Echo so I could see what I was typing BUT still nothing.

I'm in the process of making up a proper rj-11 to DB9 female cable so I can eventually updare the RF side of things.

The power switch that has the DB9 Female port does not have any service keys installed, I did verify tat it has the Rj-11 port on the backside (to update thr RF side). It does NOT have any service key installed on the backside.

I do believe I'm getting SOME activity on the cable box. I go into the settings to verify I hae the dish set to round and the Multiswitch selected. When I go to the 101 sat signal screen I see some of the transponders across the bottom of the screen showing a 95% signal.

I'm so close, yet so far, far away. LOL :)

Just looking for others that might have any ideas or suggestions.

This is the LAST item on the punch list.

Thanks all!

Picked up an IOGear USB to RS232 (9 pin male). Tried with my original cable & could not communicate. Connected DIRECTLY to the maint. port & it worked! Looks like a bad cable!
Updated the Mainboard, Now I have to makeup cable for port on the backside of the Tracvision power switch. More to follow.
