Trailer Emergency Brake Cable Broke

Well not really broke, was apparently dragging on the ground.

Suggestions for repair? I was thinking cable clamps, creating loops of the two ends.

    Long dog leash. (not the expanding kind). Clip end to wire eye on the pull-out pin's wire, hand-holding eye end to fitting on truck (eye-pad in truck box, eg)
