The Californis State Board of Equalization is damned strict about sales tax enforcement.
But boosting a cargo load of batteries is not unusual. Truck and all. A vendor I represented had an z F600 stake truck boosted that was loaded with GNB batteries.

AZ has different tax laws on batteries than CA... I've read numerous times that if you can prove that the batteries are going in your RV,TT or 5th wheel, WITH A SOLAR SYSTEM, there is no sales tax on the batteries in AZ. Buy 'em at a golf cart store in AZ. Or do a search on it.
