I agree if those caps fill with water they may get damaged from water freezing.Or the water may drain sufficiently into the cells. So don't fill until you un-winterize.
I have not looked at mine for this issue as I do not winterize here. And though I think mine could be blown out if a tube was attached at the end to catch the water.
