Good luck getting 14.4 out of an 8955 WFCO. Easier to just replace with a Progressive Dynamics with Wizard or IOTA with IQ controller.

The solar may well save you on this. But again verify that your solar holds 14.4/14.8 volts a couple hours. Some controllers hit a set point and immediately drop to float. An automatic equalization every 120 days in the 15.0 to 15.5 range will also help.
