"chipped the leading edge on all my turbo blades... praying that none of it settled in my engine"
Does not sound right to me.
What caused this chipping of the leading edge blades of the compressor? Those chips have nowhere to go other then the cumbustion chamber! Unless you have a C.A.C? (Charge Air Cooler) Perhaps the chips settled in the C.A.C.
My turbo on my 8.3l Cummins is setup as follow's;
Air enters the Air Cleaner
Piped to the compressor side of the turbo.
Enters turbo, get's compressed (heated as well)and then piped to the Charge Air cooler, (between the radiator and the AC condencer) gets cooled (condenses) and then is routed to the intake.
So, If my turbo had chips on the leading edge of the compressor all those "chips" whould be heading for the Charge Air Cooler. Perhaps stuck their! No other place for then to go other than the intake manafold. That air cleaner is the LAST line of defence.
I'd be looking at what caused it so it cannot happen again.
