I installed 300 W of panels ob my camper about 3 years ago. For us it is the best upgrade we have made. I bought and installed complete kit from AM Solar it come with evrything you need to install the system. We like camping off the grid a lot. We usually bring the batteries down to about 70% overnight and will be fully charged by noon. The camper has all LED lights however we do use a small Kureig coffee maker and the wife does use a 120V airdryer and curliny iron. Before we got the panels could not get a full charge either from shore power or driving with the truck, now jt is not an issue. I don't think I would do anything with your existing charger/converter since the panels are connected directly to the batteries. As far as the batteries I have two Optima blue tops. However, if I was starting over l would probably go withntwo 6 V batteries (more amp hours than the two Optimas). Do you research. I did asearch for "RV solar systems" and more hits thsn I could count. But i liked the info on AN Solar and Go Power. Good hunting and keep us informed on your progress.
