Go-Power makes great starter kits that can be expanded upon easily as you go.

If you sticking with 12v batteries look into the new Interstate Pro ECL line. They are probably the best Boat/RV "Marine Deep Cycle" you'll find. You'll have about 165-200 a/hrs on 2-12v.

A pair of 6v's will yield about 220-235 a/hrs, can be be safely discharged deeper and last a few years longer. Interstate GC2, Trojan T-105 & US Battery 2200 are the best flooded batteries period.
Start small with an expandable solar kit and build it as you go for your needs, spend the $ the first time or you'll just wast it on cheap inferior kits that don't perform as promised.....
