Old-Biscuit: Would that be the air temp in the freezer or temperature on the back wall? You probably didn't see my edit: the back wall of the freezer varied from 2.3 to 4.0 depending on which part I hit with the IR. The right hand freezer has about a 1/2 inch of ice/frost on the top half of the back wall. The left hand freezer, where I took the measurements is clear of ice, I deiced that compartment a few days ago. It gets frosty because that is where we make and store the ice cubes.
I do think my fans have failed. I'll climb up and see what I can see. Of course I have just stowed and locked the ladder!
I did have both vent covers off for the last month or so to help with ventilation and just put them back on a day or two ago. I don't know when the fans quit. Funny how you don't notice when a sound isn't there. We always have either the air conditioner or vent fans running so there is always fan noise.
