It's a bit late for an update, but as they say, better late than never:
In Yuma in March, the tech found that it was NOT in fact the thermistor! It had simply been poor, likely dirty, contacts! When he removed the jumper and plugged the connectors back onto the thermistor the fans started up just fine! Heat turned them on, cold spray turned them off. Now in mid July the fridge is still operating as is should. :S
