upgrade xantrex 1000 to xantrex 1800
Can I upgrade my (dead) 1000 for a new 1800 with the existing wiring/batteries??? Would be a simple switch out as the boxes are essentially the same. Also does anyone have any comments on the newer ...

Some Xantrex inverters (not all) can be "Throttled" down from their max to 1000 watts. Why would you want to do this? Well an 1800 watt throttled will run cooler and likely longer "Mean time between failures"
But normally if upgrading from 1KW to 1.8 you would need to upgrade all wires both 12 volt and 110 volt.. Else you need to limit it to 1000 watts. I suggest you do the limit. No more than 1100 watts with existing wires.
