I would agree with you last post with further explanation.
Most of the people dry-camping there, using solar panels, are getting older. If they have been doing it long enough they have a good "gut" feeling for how their batteries are holding up (experience counts!).
Because of their age they most likely go to bed earlier, use a single light when needed, watch no television while there, have a portable radio, and most likely have a decent sleeping bag for when there is a cold night.
A portable propane heater can take the chill out of the air when they wake up.
Most people today want more. The electrical needs sky-rocket causing problems for the unwary.
I prefer just a multi-meter and a clamp-on meter for any testing. After all; the additional equipment (meters etc.) all use current for their operation being on line and monitoring.
