Good god almighty I have been trying and experimenting for more than 50 years to simplify proper battery maintenance. Without the need of strapping on a holster for the hydrometer, or wearing a laser head's up display visor to stare at what the batteries are "up to". It's a challenge.
Having baby-sat batteries and raised a daughter and now three grand children I can tell you it's no contest. Batteries are "one billionth" the work or worry.
I have been "studying" Lithium Ion technology, and it's not going to be "hands off" either. Oh, the actual work isn't going to be screwing around with the batteries, it's going to be working like a slave to pay for computer monitoring of a battery bank so a rig doesn't look like an after-shot of the Nevada Test Site when something goes "oops".
I am thankful the good lord spared "that between my ears" at my age. I am still curious and excited by new technology. When I bend to dip a flooded battery I hurt - herniated disc. Or when my fingers ache from arthritis like when a school marm used to flex a pointer across my knuckles for some perceived infraction.
So forgive me for being a little cranky when I read people recommend mistreating batteries and then endorsing it as being "correct". Yes, batteries can be a pain-in-the-ass. But there is no reason to be lazy and get screwed in the process.
